These Perfectly Puffy ‘Pillas top any good Latin American meal off with a bang

With an Easy 20 min prep time and 20 min cook time these classic mexican pastries are eas and fun for all ages.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups - Flour

  • 3/4 cups - warm water

  • 2 Tbs - Shortening

  • 1 Tbs - Sugar

  • 2 tsp - Baking Powder

  • 1/2 tsp - Salt

  • Vegtable Oil for Frying

  • Cinnamon Sugar, Honey, and Powdered Sugar are what I use but any combination of those or a mirade of other toppings can be delicious

Recipe:

1) Mix all the dry ingredients together

2) Add the shortening and mix in with your hands until there are little to no clumps

3) Add the water slowly and form a dough

4) Kneed the Dough for at least 5 min or until smooth and set in a bowl covered with plastic wrap or a moist towel in a warm place to rest for at least 20 min, Can rest for as long as you want I find it best to prepare the dough after you’re done with dinner, eat, and then once you are done the dough will be ready

5) Roll out the dough until it is about a quarter inch thick, then slice it into squares or what ever shapes you want keeping in mind that they will puff up to about the thickness of the shortest side of the shape you cut

6) Lastly, fry them in 375 Degree Oil for about 2-3 min on each side or until golden brown, right when you drop them in the oil they may not float but they will float by the time you need to flip them so don’t worry.
